Testimonial of Eric Beckers on with this Sailboat after 3 years HARSONIC.

We have a sailboat “Albin Singoalla”. A 34-footer. It has the serial number 78 and it was launched in the water in 1976. A pretty elderly “aunt”. But nothing could be further from the truth than that. In 2009 we bought this Albin who then lay moored in Groningen. In 2010, we brought her to our home harbor. Because anyone who buys a boat yet wish to change something to his or her sentence, I figured if we do so than we do it immediately right.

The entire outer side, both underwater and above water, was sanded off up to the polyester. Then the complete new skin came on it. The underwater hull got an anti-osmosis treatment. 7-layers to give her a new perpetual underwater beauty. As top coat came a hard anti-fouling of International paint for the lower half of the underwater hull.

The top half , I painted with Velecinana a new anti-fouling. I painted these 2 different antifouling paints to see the difference . After a year the boat would go out and see which gave the best result of antifouling. In August 2010 our Albin “Witblits” went back into the water for baptizing.

In 2011, I learned about the Harsonic anti-fouling system.

There we were very reluctant, because how can ultrasound (something you can’t see nor hear) ,prevent algae growth We were stunned a year later. We had in 2012, less than 40 sailing-hours. When our sailing boat went out of the water, we saw that on the hull with International paint no growth, absolutely nothing was accrued.

In the place where I had painted, Veleciana were just dead , brown, small pieces of algae, which we could wipe off by hand without extra water pressure.

In front of our location , a sailing yacht (slightly smaller than ours) gone to water at the same time in 2010 and the owner also had used the same International paint ,like us .

He had also only a few sailing trips and our sailing boats were so worthy a nice comparison test. His sailboat had a green beard almost over the entire length of the boat.

Now 2013 we have 57 sailing-hours, the hull still looks as it did a year ago. I would want to get the boat out In 2014 to new antifouling but as it look like now, 3 years after Harsonic I don’t need to do this. This saves me a lot of money per year. 150 euro’s in and out with the crane, dry-dock 50 euro, underwater paint 250 euro, working hours I don’t even count .

After 4 years still a nice 1800 euro saved. Those who don’t believe it (as me in the beginning) , should feel free to come and watch. Ask for the Harbor Master in “De Spaanjerd Marina “in Ophoven Belgium/Holland border , he will show you our sailing boat. You can see with your own eyes the underwater hull because the water in the harbor is bright enough.
